I wouldn't worry about this. The iTunesArtwork file (no file extension!)
may supply the icon you are looking for, but then again it may not. :)

Yes, and you are limited to 100 such registrations. In real life this
restriction should not be a problem, and registering a device and
generating an .ipa that will run on particular devices is very easy.
