Developer Technical Support incidents cost about $50 each, and two of them are included in your program membership. An Apple engineer will respond within three business days.
Apple employees on this list are here as volunteers, reading on their own time, and answering just for the pleasure of helping others. They are not paid to answer, and may not even know the answer you're seeking. List members don't make direct demands on them because too many demands will drive them away.
DTS engineers are paid to research and answer your questions promptly, and you've already paid for it.
Also, this list was started (I believe) when Xcode 1 came out. It was well-attended by engineers and managers working on the product. Xcode 4 discussions started out in devforums.apple.com; those engineers are in the habit of reading there, and not this list. You might try your question on the forum. I don't believe Apple engineers are obliged to respond there, either. If you want service, you have to pay for it.
