I've always done this this the old-fashioned way (probably trying to make up for the fact that I'm congenitally unable to grow a long flowing Unix-beard): add --save-temps to CFLAGS, rebuild, and the resulting .i file will be in the same directory as your project.  clang, gcc & gcc-llvm all support this flag so this will work whichever compiler you're using.
