Xcode 4.1 and Lion redux

I know there has been an ongoing discussion re: Lion and Xcode 4.1
These seem to break into two camps:
1) iTunes Helper gets in the way---remove and continue installation
2) Xcode won't run once installed.
I'm in the second camp.
a) Made certain x_64 bit mode was set.
b) No iTunes nor iTunes Helper running at all.
c) Xcode install from App Store works without error.
d) Xcode will not launch without "Internal Logic Error" crash and will not run at all.
Was there a consensus on an approach to solve this problem?
I'm hoping for something other than the MS solution of "reinstall".
A 3.2GB download is a long wait for me.
