I finally figured everything out, but it is one of those things where if you already understand something, the documentation is clear. If you don't understand something to begin with, it can be very confusing. It is sort of like why the college professor can't understand why his students don't understand his lecture. ("It's just a simple application of the Dirac delta function.")

Another problem with learning Help Book is that it can be fairly unforgiving. One small typo for a bundle identifier or file name and things don't work with no explanation as to why things aren't working. For someone who is learning several things at the same time, this can be frustrating because you don't know if it is a typo or you are just not understanding a fundamental piece of the puzzle.
