Thanks for the suggestion.
A simpler solution for us is to revert to GCC 4.2. Compilation may be slower but there's no additional install/setup overhead.

You might try using a different version of clang then. Either the
newest from their svn trunk, or something older than what Xcode 3.2.5
uses. See:
