Dear All,
I made a few weeks ago about xcode 4 system requirements, asking about possible trashing situation when compiling my 300 files, 150k sloc source code. And the fact that when compiling, xcode seems to crash during debugging (aka it freezes, and the whole mac mini freezes). I was not able to see what really happened (the crash just froze everything) so I decided to backtrack to xcode 3.
Now on xcode 3, it compiles fine, but I finally managed to get a glimpse on what really happened during the crash. Only a glimpse though, that it's an EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal error, and then the same thing happened: XCode freezes and the whole computer did so as well. Starting from the spinning beach ball thing, to the whole computer and the dock etc becoming super unresponsive.
Well today, I decided to be patient and wait it out, and after sitting patiently in front of the monitor for maybe half an hour, the following appeared:
Error During Event Broadcast
Attempt to allocate 2999104 bytes of CFString failed
Now, the stats again. I'm debugging a 150k sloc project on a mac mini with only 1GB memory.
Would this confirm the suspicion that upgrading to a new mac mini would alleviate this problem once and for all?
I'd like more input before I spend the dough and spend time migrating various data into the new mac mini, a process which I'd like to avoid.
Cheers
