Your objection certainly seems reasonable and humane, but there is room for disagreement about VS. Without wanting to beat this to death I suppose it wouldn't hurt to finally add one more vote, since Apple regards demand as low: I've been using both Visual Studio and XCode 3 for years and I far prefer XCode 3 because of the multiwindow support. Though I think the XCode debugger is better, too. And Apple's integrated Interface Builder leaves the resource editing in VS way back on the receding horizon, at least for my kind of work.

I've read without comment numerous opinions here that the contained window system is superior. I don't care much. It seems to me this ought to have been an option - that would satisfy everyone. I'll stick with 3 as long as I can.

I thought part of being on this list is being as professional as possible.
The jab at MS personnel seems inappropriate and non productive. Xcode has
a long way to go before it can be as comprehensive of a tool as Visual
Studio. Although I am exhausted on trying to figure out how to be
productive with Xcode 4 so I can upgrade to Lion and still develop, the
Apple engineers are doing all they can to deliver a great product and I
appreciate that. Most people have not experienced what it takes to
deliver a application on the scale of Xcode or Visual Studio to appreciate
the effort. Give them the feedback, keep it productive and hopefully
Apple will deliver what the community wants. Meanwhile, keep filing the
issues as bugs.

That's unbelievable. Did someone new and inexperienced take over the
Xcode4 team? Was there an influx of ex-Microsoft personnel? This has all
the hallmarks of a Dilbert cartoon where an "efficiency expert" comes in
and makes things "better". _______________________________________________
