I have started buying Kindle versions of reference books now; this means I can have them on my desktop, laptop and iPad; the latter being the most useful because I can choose my book and read it without having to swap applications whilst using Xcode.
The one problem with Kindle is that I can't search my library of books. PDF files, or any other document type that can be searched with Spotlight would quite a strong influence if it were my choice :-)
