I'm new to the list any really don't know if this related or not but I just recently installed XCode 4 and had a negative experience with it. Here is a sequence of events.
Installed XCode. Started XCode immediately afterward. Immediately after start up go to preferences to update local documentation. Cruise the Internet while the update is ongoing. Machine becomes very unresponsive with a corresponding users sad face.
Investigated a bit and found that XCode was using about 190% of my CPU resources. I did not have a crash but the user was disturbed by the fact that an operation that should have happened in background, ground my machine down to the point it was barely usable.
Unfortunately I'm not a full time user of XCode so I have experienced this again. It does seem like their is an issue here. By the way the platform was an early 2008 MBP, so performance wise not that bad.

I did file a bugreport as advised.
Thanks!
If possible, can you also attach the complete crash log (from ~/Library/Logs) to your bug? That'll show what other threads were doing too, and also what libraries were loaded into Xcode at the time, both of which can be useful for diagnosis.
