Since, in a different post, I took a whole series of cheap shots at Xcode 4 and (indirectly) at Apple, I thought I'd even the score, lest the people being snotty about Xcode 4 think I'm on their side. Here's what I think about Xcode 4:
I like it. I think it's better. I don't mind using fewer windows. It's a positive benefit.
The only complaint I have personally is that I want to make my main window as big as possible, which essentially means fully screen. In Xcode 3, the handful (usually about 5) of windows I'd regularly have open at once would *also* use up the whole screen, but there was often a sliver of visibility between them through to other applications' windows, which meant I could switch applications by clicking on them. Now, I more frequently have to switch applications using the dock, or by using Command-Tab. "Omigod," as Marisa Tomei put it near the end of My Cousin Vinny, "What a f***ing nightmare!".
(Actually, there are larger parallels between that interchange and the ongoing discussion about Xcode 4, with the naysayers being represented by Joe Pesce's character. For one thing, if I had to choose, I'd *much* rather look like Marisa Tomei than Joe Pesce.)
