No, this is not what he was asking about (But thanks for the generally useful hint)
What he is looking for is the way Crash Reporter finds the version information in a command line executable, and his hunch was, that possibly an info.plist could be embedded as a DATA segment of the executable, or something along these lines.
Unfortunately, however, I can not answer this question but would very much like to know the answer!
