Reason for the Xcode 4 Scheme editor "Description" popup?

  • Subject: Reason for the Xcode 4 Scheme editor "Description" popup?

I cannot ascertain any use for the "Description" popup in the Scheme editor. In a sampling of settings, I try to set an different options for different Descriptions, but it has no affect.

What I would have expected is that given the Description option, the Scheme popup in the toolbar would only show the selected Description (ie you would have the scheme on the left and the description on the right).

Or, it would let me set different options for different choices.

Right now, it seems to provide no functionality whatsoever. However, since it is there, I assume it does something that had eluded me to date. What am I missing?

Thanks,

David
