Am I the only who can't get Xcode 4 to symbolicate a crash log from a Mac app? I can't find any documentation or discussion about it in the Apple docs, any list, forum, stackoverflow, or anywhere else. All I can find is iOS-related discussions and a lot of talk about the symbolicatecrash script, but nothing about *Mac* crashes.
I have the archived version of my app, I have a crash log from a user, and I'm trying to symbolicate it. If the iOS-related docs for Xcode are any indication, then I'm supposed to open Organizer's Devices tab, and import the log. I open the Devices tab, and I can see my Mac listed as a device, but there are no subitems listed like there are for phones. Up under the top level "Library" items, there is a Device Logs section though, and if I select that, then there's an Import button under the (empty) log list which shows up. If I click that, select my crash log, and whack the button, nothing happens. Not even any errors in the console.
Out of desperation I tried to use the symbolicatecrash buried in the iOS SDK I see a ton of mention of. The script appears to support i386 and x86_64 (and even ppc?) so I gave that a whirl, but all I got was a spew of a bunch of script errors(?) and then the unchanged crash log.
I can use atos successfully at least, so I can slowly piece back together some critical bits myself, but what gives? Why can't I get Xcode to work?
4.2 GM on Snow Leopard or Lion.
