How to pause Instruments?

I'm using Instruments to track leaks through the Allocations tool in my iOS project. I'm having a hard time to mark the heap at the beginning of a method that is called repeatedly. Is there a way I could pause the app so that I could mark the heap in Instruments before continuing?
