Holy unintuitive UI, Batman! I had noticed the icons at the end of that “slider”, and found that they did nothing when clicked, but it never occurred to me that the square halfway between them was draggable. Man, that’s the worst UI for zooming that I’ve seen in years and years. How strange that they slavishly copied lots of UI elements from audio apps, but got ‘creative’ when it was time to implement the ubiquitous timeline zoom. Guess I should file a bug report.
