Carbon .nibs/.xibs

When moving to Xcode 4.1 on 10.7, our old .nibs wouldn't work. I did some research and found I needed to resave them as .xib 3.x in Interface Builder 3.2.6. I did that. The only easy way I could find to replace all the .nibs with the new .xibs was to edit the project.pbxproj with a text editor and do a Replace All.

Now, when I click an .xib in the project file list, it opens as a text file instead of in Xcode 4.1's built-in Interface Builder editor. I tried changing the .xib's File Type to Interface Builder XIB in the project, but that results in the following error when I select the file again:

This version of Interface Builder does not support documents targeting "IBCarbonFramework".

So how do I make these work with Xcode 4.1 so they can be edited again? Or will that never work because they're Carbon, and they'll always have to be edited in Interface Builder 3.2.6?
