The PDF viewer is awkward compared with a dedicated viewer like Preview, and you get no access to the file itself (no saving, no revealing in Finder).

If only that was a joke!
Xcode 4 PDF "support" is totally lame. In fact, "lame" is still even too good for what it is. Xcode 4's average quality would suddenly be significantly increased by totally removing it.
I am a heavy PDF user. And I cry every time I want to open a PDF document from Xcode. The fact that the PDF often *is* there and can be shown from the sorry Xcode PDF viewer, without ever being able to jail break it to an outside viewer that deserves its name, that, adds insult to injury.
So now my workflow, rather than going through the hack listed above, is to look up the document name, type it up in Google, and download it again. I'm lucky to generally be able to do that with my internet connection.
If I sound bitter, that's because I am. Feedback regarding Xcode 4's documentation viewer has been give to Apple for more a less a full year, only to fall into deaf ears as the situation has not significantly improved (if at all) and is still far worse than what Xcode 3 had.
