OK, the warning that went away was about a *different* reason why you needed to say "readonly,strong" instead of just "readonly", sometimes.

The warning you cite probably warrants a bug report. It really should be possible to have a "readwrite,strong" *or* a "readwrite,copy" redeclaration match a plain "readonly" declaration.

Just looked up on bugreporter, I have already filed one on this very problem rdar://8714854 (December 2010) which was closed as a duplicate of rdar://7049802
The duplicate is still open. Do not hesitate to file bug reports too.
