Did all that to no avail … and the .xib XML has only two IBConnection records for DataSource … one for the Outline View and one for the Table View.

So, I cannot believe or even love the compiler warning and it is annoying as I like to clear all warnings.

Hey, Apple, tell me what to do beside spend a support incident or file a bug which will have a low priority.

As was mentioned elsewhere, this is a runtime issue.

What suggest is that you set a future break (fb setDatasource:) in the debugger on the setter for the datasource, see where it is being changed and if it is. This break will fire for all calls of it, though, so you will have to continue a lot.
