You can't change nothing else. You must at least set the deployment target to 10.4.

can't test intel computers cuz i ain't got one that can run 10.4, and VMs are explicitly denied :(

IIRC, Intel Macs were introduced after 10.5, and they can't run 10.4 at all. Note that you can't even install the original retail version of 10.5 on an Intel Mac, for the same reason -- in general, no Mac will run an OS version prior to the one it was first shipped with.
