Just go to the breakpoints tab in the navigator in Xcode 4, press the "+" button at the bottom, and choose "Add Exception Breakpoint…" from the pop-up. You get the option of having the breakpoint when the exception is raised or caught; IMHO the interesting part is where it's raised. At that point you can look at the stack in Xcode, select a frame belonging to you and examine variables, etc.

This is one of three diagnostic tools I enable in _all_ of my Xcode projects, along with Treat Warnings As Errors and malloc scribble.
