I remember when I was able to have Safari open with 70 tabs on a G5 with 2 GB of RAM. Since the release of Lion, even Safari on Snow Leopard has become an incredible memory pig. It's not uncommon for Safari to be using 4-5 GB of RAM and performance on my quad core i7 roars to a sluggish pace.
