Instruments shows Mac targets instead of iOS targets. Why?

I'm going to give this one last shot, since it's really halting my progress.

I need to run Zombies to troubleshoot a crash. I launch Instruments, pick "iOS Simulator" in the left pane, and then pick Zombies.

When the document is created, I click on the Choose Target button and go to Choose Target.  But it inexplicably shows me applications that are installed on my Mac, not my app that's in the simulator.  The build in the simulator is Debug and runs fine from the debugger.

How are these Simulator apps: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7200/6983541997_e210ef8b91_b.jpg
