The "Distribution" line refers to the setting that gets used when Xcode uses a configuration named "Distribution." Go to the Scheme editor and examine the configuration popup in the Archive panel. I bet it says Release, instead of Distribution. Fix that.

Ah, the mysteries of the automatic scheme generator!  This project started before Xcode 4, and that was indeed the problem.  Thanks!
