Amen, brother! Just ran through the same cycle myself, wash, rinse, start over.
As for not being able to get your team provisioning profile, have you tried the Refresh button in the lower right corner of the organizer window? I have found that Xcode will be able to refresh all my provisioning profiles and will renew the ones that are no longer valid.
