Go to "XCode/Preferences/Locations" and set "Derived Data" parameter to
"Relative" and also type something like "build" in the text field at the
right.

I understand that there is some way-over-my-head logic which causes Xcode 4+ to usually ignore the old Build Products Path (SYMROOT) Build Setting and instead put my product down a path such as…
/Users/jk/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData/MyApp-hdreabkezhcgkngsdtkroeilxfyd/Build/Products/Release/
I'm updating my non-Mac-App-Store "shipping" script to ship this product, and would like to know if there is any way for my script to reliably extract that path from Xcode, maybe using xcodebuild or AppleScript.
The closest thing I can find is the AppleScript property "build products relative path", which is "The path to the item referenced relative to the build products folder", but there seems to be no access to the "build products folder", which might be what I'm looking for.
Thank you,
