Updating Xcode via Share Screen

  • Thread-topic: Updating Xcode via Share Screen

I have a mini (server) running headless (no keyboard, no screen) connected to my iMac with a Thunderbolt cable.  Currently both are running OS 10.7.4.  I access and log into the mini by running Share Screen on the iMac .

This past weekend, I tried repeatedly to update Xcode on the mini from 4.3 to 4.4 via the App store but, every time I tried, the (rather lengthy) update would eventually terminate with an error, saying that it could not be completed and to check the Internet connectivity (which was OK).  This is not a computer time-out per se since the Energy Saver is set to "Never sleep" on both computers.

After giving up, I restarted both computers later in the day and, at that time, Xcode showed up on the mini as version 4.4.1 in spite of the "update could not be completed" dialogs.  Also, Xcode seems to be working fine.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?  Is there some reason why Xcode cannot be updated in this fashion?

Thanks.
