Hey all…
This isn't a question just sharing a bug that I've dealt with a few times.
Issue 1: There have been times while I was developing an iPad only app and the simulator would go into iPhone mode but stay the iPad size. Weird graphics were appearing, out of sequence. If you quit the app in the simulator and went to one of the built in apps, they'd show their iPhone modes in the iPad frame, but some of the graphics were wrong.
Issue 2: Yesterday I battled getting the Status Bar to show for about an hour. It was showing before, but it was showing the UIWindow background, with a 20px gap then showing the root view controller below.
These two issues are related...
I tried many different things to fix them. Cleared Derived Data, Clean Build, removed com.apple.iphonesimulator.plist, restarted Xcode, restarted / reset the simulator, created new schemes, tried new projects… the issues stuck around. I finally restarted and the issues would go away.
So if you run into either of these issues, restarting should remedy them. Another thing I noticed was if you switch user accounts with fast switching, the other user account would NOT do it while the other did. This led me to think it was a preference issue, but couldn't track it down.
Hope this helps anyone that runs into it
