attaching instruments to a running demon

  • Subject: attaching instruments to a running demon

Is there a way to attach Instruments to a running demon, e.g. coreaudiod?

I tried Dispatch, Leaks and Allocation instruments but all I get is a
greyed-out "Current Instrumentation Disallows Attach" menu item.

I also tried setting target to Instrument Specific and then picking
com.apple.audio.coreaudiod from Launchd Demons for the Dispatch
instrument. That looks like a rarely used path in Instrument as it
promptly crashes.
