Fixing a .xib with an IB plugin dependency

  • Subject: Fixing a .xib with an IB plugin dependency

I’m updating an older Mac OS project that uses the BWToolkit framework. This framework came with its own IB plugin to let you edit its custom widgets. Unfortunately when I try to open any of the .xibs in Xcode 4, it first says "The file "MainMenu.xib" has a dependency on an Interface Builder 3 plug-in” and asks me to upgrade it; and then when I agree I get "Xcode failed to upgrade the document due to the following error: The file "MainMenu.xib" has a dependency on an Interface Builder 3 plug-in.”

Is there some workaround to recover the file, or am I SOL unless I play archaeologist and dig up a copy of Xcode 3 and an old OS installer (10.6?) and a computer capable of running that old OS? :(
