I’ve been noticing basic text-editing slowing down a lot in Xcode 5.0.1 (OS X 10.9). On closer examination, what’s happening is that if I have the assistant editor open, then when I move the insertion point in the main editor the assistant editor’s navigation bar will flicker and redraw itself several times with different contents — it’ll jump between grayed-out and colored-in, and between individual items fully-expanded and collapsed. This redrawing adds a noticeable pause (hundreds of ms) before I can start typing.
To be detailed, the steps are like:
* Open assistant editor (mode doesn’t matter; I see this in both Counterparts and Manual)
* Set an insertion point in the main editor
* Click on a different source line in the main editor
—> Assistant editor’s navigation bar flickers between two or three different configurations
This is annoying enough that I’ve started turning off the assistant most of the time, even though it’s so useful. :-(
I know, I know, “file a Radar, dude!” But before I do so I wanted to ask whether this is something other people are seeing or if it’s somehow unique to my setup.
