It's a very useful link, but it basically describes just what I am already doing.
One more note: spctl --assess --type execute reports that the app is rejected. Maximum verbosity basically tells me nothing:
fScanX-HE.app: rejected
origin=3rd Party Mac Developer Application: my cert (B2E75262ZM)
And one to make your teeth grind: spctl has bug in argument parsing, --verbose=x for numeric verbosity level does *not* work.
