A project has files in about a dozen repositories on github.com. Every few days I do a Commit. Today, the checkboxes on all 10 of the modified files in one of these repositories were switched OFF. So I switched them on and continued “Commit and Push”. Then a sheet said…
The working copy "classesobjc" failed to commit files.
fatal: '../ClassesObjC/SSYLazyView.h' is outside repository
“SSYLazyView.h” is the first file in the list whose checkbox I had switched on. I verified that this file was still in the same directory it’s always been, and that this directory has a .git subdirectory.
Repeating the process without switching that file’s checkbox on, it complained about the next file, etc.
I tried a quit and relaunch of Xcode 5. Did not help.
So then I just left all of those 10 files’ checkboxes OFF. The button still said “Commit and Push” (What?) I clicked it. A few seconds later, the sheet dismissed as it usually does when Commit is successful. I looked at my repository on github.com and, to my surprise, all of my latest changes seem to be there. Even more surprisingly, I attempted another Commit in Xcode, and it found no files to commit.
What was Xcode trying to tell me?
Thanks,
Jerry Krinock
