[Sorry Sean for replying to you rather than the list.]

I also feel it is a little bit dumb to erase all previous SDKs. But I wonder if we are too obsessive to the co-existing of multiple SDKs. After all, all we can do with old SDKs on a new platform is to check the compilation statically.

Would that be do as well by the "Target Platform" option? I think there are metadata describing which APIs are obsoleted, and which newly added but absent in older SDKs, and Xcode will warn you according to the "Target Platform" option. In terms of statically check, I think that would be good enough.

If you are seriously multi-targeting developer, you have to have multiple machines with each platform you are targeting anyway.

Don't forget 10.9 is just around the corner, so that'll be two versions: 10.9 and 10.8.

Wait, you're hacking your Xcode by copying in older SDKs and complaining your hack doesn't work?

You are aware of the difference between deployment target and SDK right?

Perhaps the more pertinent question is: what is the oldest deployment target officially supported by Xcode 5?  I couldn't find an answer in the release notes...

Cheers,
