Can't edit split views

In IB, I created a view with a couple of NSSplitViews. Unfortunately, Xcode crashes whenever I try to move the split in the nested view. Not really a problem, until Xcode decided to completely bork the positioning of all the views such that most are completely inaccessible. Their autolayout rules cause them to draw correctly at run time, but I can't get IB to lay them out correctly such that I can add more views.

I've already submitted a bug about the crash, but now I'm really stuck, and can't make any progress. Any ideas?
