App icon is being mangled when built

Has anyone else had their app icon get mangled? Today I opened an Xcode project I hadn’t used in a few months and rebuilt it. The app’s Finder icon is now seriously messed up — it looks as though it’s been sliced into narrow vertical strips which were then reassembled in the wrong order.

The original icon resource (Images.xcassets/AppIcon.appiconset/icon.png) is unmodified and looks fine. But the resulting Contents/Resources/AppIcon.icns is mangled.

At first I thought this was an Xcode 6 regression, but I deleted the build folder and rebuilt with Xcode 5.1.1 and it’s still happening. This definitely wasn’t happening in March. I wonder if there’s some sort of issue in OS X 10.9.4 messing up the image conversion?
