"Automatic" architecture selection forgets 32-bit Intel Macs

Developers of old Mac apps:

Beware of the suggestions offered by Xcode 5.1 to “update” your targets to use Automatic architecture selection based on the Deployment Target. The automaton doesn’t seem to remember that Apple sold a million or so 32-bit Intel Macs some years ago that can run 10.6.

After giving it a try, I used Discard Changes in the project file to back out of it. The warnings (in which the suggestions appear) have not reappeared.
