I'm still trying to understand how Xcode behaves with code-signing.
I have a target, and in the General tab I have Signing set to Developer ID, with Team Shane Stanley. Under Build Settings, I've changed the Build Settings for the Project to use my Developer ID identity. It seems odd, but it works. I have another project set up the same way, but it always signs with my Mac Developer identity. Why does one use one identity and not the other?
I guess the real questions are: Why, if I just go to the General tab and have signing set to Developer ID, and no overrides, does Xcode use my Mac Developer identity, when I've clearly specified that I want to use a Developer ID identity? And why don't the Developer ID identities show in the Team menu?
I can work around it: I just turn off signing in the General tab, and do it all in Build Settings. But I'm baffled at what the point of the setting in the General tab is if I can't use it. It's been much the same for several versions of Xcode 5.x.
