We've got a large multi product workspace that we just moved over from Perforce to SVN.
I've been having the fun of making sure that code signing and provisioning is set up on all our apps so that anyone can build them, occasionally making bulk commits of a small amount of files, say 36.
Is there supposed to be a status bar, or a progress bar or something that appear to indicate commit status when committing a bunch of files within Xcode 5.1.x?
Currently the "Commit n Files" button becomes disabled and the entire dialog/sheet appears empty with no status at all for up to several minutes after clicking the commit button.
Minutes for committing 36 files to repository in our building.
Over Ethernet.
With no UI updates during this process except one disabled button.
Can we please get some status indicators back?
I hope this rush to make a less busy (all white) UI can be undone so that we can actually get readouts that tell us what is going on when synching, updating, getting history, etc.
We've currently got 4 people on our team looking at the SVN supporting UI in Xcode and shaking their heads in how non communicative (flaky) it is when compared to Microsoft products.
This does not inspire confidence in the tool.
That just makes me sad. Using it makes me wonder how Xcode 5 could have shipped in a state like this with regards to SVN support.
Can we please get some progress indicators? Are we the only Mac/iOS developers on the planet still using SVN as our SCCS?
Sincerely,
- Alex
