Old versions of Xcode

Hello,

 

People on the general Macintosh user group mailing list have been asking about obtaining older versions of Xcode.

 

XCode 4.6.1 for Mountain Lion in particular.

 

One suggestion was to go to the app store and search for Xcode 4.6.1. Is the solution to finding any Xcode 3.X through 6.x that simple?

 

If not, is there a strategy for acquiring older versions of Xcode for OSX 10.6, 10.7, 10.8?
