Lest there be any misunderstanding: I am not one of “you guys. [1]” That’s what frees me to comment on the travails of Developer Tools: I have no inside knowledge, just absorbed the culture for almost 40 years, so I can Make Stuff Up that is remarkably life-like.

[1] In some senses I am “one of those guys,” but I’m not a guy who works for Apple.
