but it begs the question, if SCM is broken, useless (except for the “A” and “M” flags against project files), why don’t they either get rid of it altogether or fix it. If they don’t have the resources to fix it then I guess that’s understandable, but then why did we have engineering time wasted on useless animations and superfluous changes to working components of the XCode UI.
This is why we shouldn’t be having discussions like this. SCM isn’t broken or useless. It failed *you*, under circumstances you don’t seem to care about investigating, but that’s the extent of your anecdotal evidence. You may not have noticed, but SCM *is* fixed and improved, every Xcode version. However, since there are obviously only 2 Apple engineers working on Xcode, one dedicated to adding useless animations, and the other discovering new ways to misuse git, it’s gonna take awhile before Xcode is worth using, right?
OK, sarcasm aside, we went through Xcode wars on this list when Xcode 4.0 came out. I for one don’t want that again. If you’re unhappy, post your opinion here once, then not again — go make bug reports instead. (You too, Alex.)
Now, after you post one more time so you can have the last word, will you *please* give it a rest?
