Thumbs up on doing a full CCC bootable backup of 10.10.x prior to upgrading to El Capitan. Making the backup bootable allows you to switch quickly between Yosemite and El Capitan if something goes haywire. CCC has been around for a long time and IMHO is the best backup utility for the Mac hands down. you should hop over to this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7252069?tstart=0and you will see you are not alone if your pain. Alex, it would be *really* useful if you could add your config details and woes to the list. We’re trying to see if there is a pattern to the crashes. Also if you haven’t filed a bug on this, you should file it under the same bug as the thread since I think there will be a lot of people filing against it. Hope this helps someone in the same boat, this problem has cost me a lot time-wise so far, I’m lucky enough to have the luxury of having spare machines lying around, so I’ve fired up another almost identical Mac Pro 3.1 and all I have to do is swap Startup volumes to boot into 10.10/10.11. The other 3 drives are a RAID volume. My advice is hold off upgrading to 10.11 unless you 100% have to
