I’m trying to do some delicate and tricky text replacements with in section of code in the middle of a big file and soon as I start to type it jumps me from where I want to be! When was this annoying “feature" added and is there a way of stopping it moving until you hit return?

All I can suggest is to keep another app open, like TextEdit, TextWrangler, etc, switch to that app when you want to enter a search term, then switch back to Xcode and hit command-g.

Yes, that’s the only way I’ve found that makes it in any way usable. It amazes me how they change things at the drop of a hat without (so it seems) thinking through the consequences of making such an “improvement”. I mean really, this is simple stuff that has been working well in countless apps for 20+ years, why all of a sudden does some (not so) bright spark at Apple think that changing the “find” operation would be a good idea, and more worryingly his boss allow it?

Oh well, look on the bright side, we have lots of lovely animations to cheer us up when we’re copying and pasting between another Text Editor and XCode that obviously makes up for any defects……

Cheers
Dave
