I just remember exporting my public/private key from the keychain 4 years ago when I needed to transfer it to another computer.
You probably could check your key in the keychain and click to display the password so that you know the password you used to make it.
FYI, I always put the password in the comments section of the file so when I forget it, I can easily find it again.
