It was the same for app and framework targets, which I guess also covers dynamic libraries. I don’t have any static libraries, but I doubt that dSYMs apply to them anyway.

Based on what Jim said, it sounds like the default is what you want — anything you intend to release should be DWARF with dSYM, anything you are in the process of developing/debugging should be just plain DWARF.
