Me, I’m like a lab rat that’s gotten several electrical shocks after touching that shiny shiny menu. I will _never ever_ use Xcode to perform mutating operations on nontrivial Git repositories. Too many times it’s done something completely wrong, that I didn’t even notice until later.
I don’t think the Xcode engineer(s) who work on Git support are incompetent; it’s just that Xcode seems to be trying to support Git and SVN equally, but with a UI model that’s closer to SVN, and there’s too much impedance mismatch. The worst problem seems to be its notion of “source trees”, which are a little bit like Git submodules but not really, so when the repo has submodules Xcode can generally be counted on to do the wrong thing with them.
So yeah, I end up command-tabbing between Xcode and SourceTree a lot.
