Have you tried the “Increase Contrast”  checkbox in System Prefs -> Accessibility ?
It will increase contrast on OS X ui items. I like it. the gray-on-gray scheme we’re stuck with doesn’t work well for me.

Is there anyway to darken all of the borders of all objects on a storyboard? or place a colored backgroun on the story board so they stand out?
