Breakpoint ignored in XPC in Xcode 8

  • Subject: Breakpoint ignored in XPC in Xcode 8

I’m trying to debug a FinderSync extension, which also embeds some XPC services, so I want to debug those services as well. But the breakpoints in XPC services seems to be ignored by Xcode 8.2.1. Also, NSLogging messages coming from XPC services are not printed to the Xcode 8.2.1 console. It’s like XPC services are not being debugged at all (I can confirm they work as intended though). I’d like to point out explicitly that I’ve checked “Debug XPC services used by this application” in the scheme editor, so that shouldn’t be the cause of the issue.

Perhaps also worth nothing is that debugging XPC services works fine when debugging an actual application (and XPC services used by it), but FinderSync extension seems to be problematic. Also, debugging XPC services embedded in FinderSync extension worked fine in Xcode 7.3.1.

Has anyone else encountered such behaviour? Is this a bug in Xcode 8, or it requires some more debugging setting from my side?

Thanks in advance for any information.
